Abstract
To improve the growth of the plants and to
make indoor farming more sustainable, the project will
involve the development of a next-generation hydroponic
system where facilities provided by recent technologies
like IoT, Home Assistant, and AI/ML have been
exploited. The system makes use of sensors to measure
critical parameters such as temperature, humidity, and
pH levels. It receives real-time data from such sensors
and uses them to autonomously modify fertilizer supply
and environmental settings to maintain optimal health
for the plants.
Another interesting feature of this technology is that
cameras are used to record live footage of the plants as
they develop. AI/ML tools research the movies for any
variables, including leaf size and the overall health of
the plant. This allows for easier identification of possible
problems early on to prevent changes having an ef ect
on the plants.
Besides, the device self-controls pH levels; that is to say,
plants receive the perfect amount of nutrients. Such
detailed observation and automatic control reduce the
need to intervene humanly and saves resources. What's
more, it keeps the humidity and temperature steady, the
latter which is also very necessary for plants to grow
robustly.
