Abstract
Syringe infusion pumps are indispensable in healthcare and
research for delivering fluids with high precision. Modern
advancements are transforming these devices into intelligent systems, incorporating Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities, artificial
intelligence (AI), and modular designs. These innovations address
long-standing challenges such as handling high-viscosity fluids, sensor
reliability, and user interface complexity while also introducing real-
time monitoring and remote control. This paper explores cutting-edge
technologies that improve flow rate accuracy, enhance safety features
like occlusion detection and air-in-line sensors, and expand device adaptability to diverse clinical scenarios. Furthermore, the integration
of predictive algorithms and IoT connectivity in infusion systems is discussed, offering transformative potential for home healthcare and
resource-constrained environments. By addressing existing limitations and proposing future developments, this study lays the groundwork
for the next generation of syringe infusion pump systems designed to
improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency in the medical
field.
